FAQs
Do we need to bring in proof of vaccination?
At Fur and Feathers we do not require proof of vaccinations for grooming services. Vaccinations are HIGHLY recommended especially the bordetella vaccination (also commonly known as kennel cough). Bordetella is an airborne illness and can be quickly spread. For the safety of your own animals we recommend this vaccination.
How often should my pet be groomed?
Each dog/cat is unique so frequency will vary. As a general rule every 6-8 weeks is the normal length of time between grooms. Should you have an animal that mats easily more frequent grooming may be required. Short haired animals may be able to go a little longer between groomings.
Should we have the animal's teeth brushed?
It is always a good idea to have your animal's teeth brushed. Brushing teeth should be done at daily, just as we would our teeth, for proper pet dental hygiene.
Can you give tranquilizers to my pet?
By law we are not able to give tranquilizers to your pets. For those animals that need to be on tranquilizers for their visits need to have them prescribed by your veterinarian and given to your pet at least an hour to an hour and a half before grooming. Any excitement could potentially adversely affect the animals response to the tranquilizers which is why the hour and a half time frame is recommended.
What are your hours?
Fur and Feathers is by appointment only. We are open Mon.-Wed., Fri.-Sat. During the summer we typically make appointments as early as 7am and the rest of the year early as 9am. We stay until the last animal is picked up at the end of the day so it is important to pick up your pet as soon as possible or to make arrangements with us.
